Premium Gourmet Coffee
Your Hair Raiser coffee has arrived! Trembling with anticipation, you rush into the kitchen and open the gas-flushed valve bag, stopping only momentarily to appreciate the exceptionally cool logo. From the first tiny fissure in the bag, the heady aroma wafts out. You take a deep, deep breath, and your smile widens. Looking down into the bag, you see those fat little beans shimmering with the oils that tell you you have in your hand the darkest of dark roasts, truly a premium coffee. Ahhh. . . Okay, now what? If you're a newbie to Hair Raiser, don't be nervous. We'll walk you through it. First, you have to grind those beans. We prefer a burr grinder to the whirling-blades type. (They just break the beans up, and it's hard to get a consistent grind.) Grind the beans as finely as you can without turning them to powder. If you pulverize them completely, the heat and friction from the grinding will evaporate those essential oils. If you're new to this, an automatic drip machine is the easiest way to brew an excellent cup. Use plenty of coffee, and don't forget that the measurements on the carafe refer to tiny little five-ounce cups. This is a big, bold coffee and should be drunk from a big bold mug, preferable a bright yellow one with our logo on it. Try three tablespoons of coffee per mug to start, and adjust according to your tastes. If your tap water is bad, your coffee will be bad, too, so use bottled or filtered water. Once the coffee has brewed, drink it immediately--you won't be able to help yourself, anyway. Keep any that's left in a thermos carafe, and never reheat it.
